Biography

Nouzha Guessous is a retired professor of medical biology. Researcher and consultant in women's human rights, she was part of the Royal Commission in charge of the reform of the Moudawana between 2001 and 2003, which resulted in the adoption of the Moroccan Family Code in 2004. She conducts her research on the status of women in societies of Muslim culture, and is the author of columns and press forums on this subject. Former member and then president of UNESCO's international bioethics committee from 2005 to 2007, she works and publishes in this field in Morocco and internationally.
