Maria Candea is a sociolinguist and sociophonetician at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris. His work focuses on the perception of speech and on the description of the diversity of contemporary oral French. She is interested in anti-discrimination policies, theories on gender and "race", the political aspects of language (privileges, discrimination, power relations). In 2016, she participated in the publication of a general public work on the deceptions of the French Academy in terms of language prescription.
