Anne Schmitt is a sports sociologist. Her work focuses on issues related to gender inequalities in water sports, surfing and sailing in particular. Author of a thesis on the school practice of these activities. Water sports are the prerogative of men and the evolution of women is strewn with pitfalls. However, this male domination is not inevitable and some women show resistance. From this perspective, Anne Schmitt is interested in the cases of surfers of big waves capable of competing with the performances of men.
