Biography

Elisabetta G. Lurgo has a doctorate in history; research fellow and contract Professor at the University of Strasbourg (Church History). Much of her work focuses on devotional practices in modern times, on the history of feminine mysticism in modern times and its links with political and social history. She is also interested in the history of courtly society and the nobility in modern times. She is the author of the following biographies: Philippe d'Orléans, brother of Louis XIV (2018),  Marie-Louise d'Orléans Queen of Spain (2021), Marie-Adélaide de Savoie, mother of Louis XV (2024).
