Héloïse Van Appelghem is a doctoral student in film and audiovisual studies. Her thesis "The double penalty. Forms and motives of female emancipation in the road movies of the great outdoors, from 1960 to the present day" analyzes the mobility of women in cinema under the prism of gender studies, from the counter- culture from the 1960s to contemporary practices of female travel. Her research examines questions of gender, class and ethnicity in an intersectional dimension. She is a member of the IRCAV and a lecturer at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University.
