Biography

Corinne Mencé-Caster is a linguist and is interested in gender issues as they arise in Romance and neo-Romanesque languages (French, Spanish, Creole). She has published articles and a book on these issues and organizes seminars at the Sorbonne on the theme of gender in language.
She was the first woman president of the University of the West Indies and Guyana to have suffered macho harassment.
Under the pseudonym Mérine Céco, she has published 4 novels on issues of violence against women and matrifocality in the French-speaking Caribbean.
