According to a report by the “Fondation des femmes” in France published on 24 August, 68% of the 200 most viewed videos on Youtube convey gender stereotypes. However, the video and music hosting platform is not an exception in the French and foreign media landscape. All media, both modern and more traditional, are still transmitters of stereotypes that convey a degrading, sexualised, violent and humiliating image of women and girls, contributing to the spread of rape culture.
