Biography

Anaïs Bohuon is a University Professor at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of the University of Paris-Saclay. Socio-historian, she publishes scientific articles and books on the body, sport and gender. She published her first book on femininity tests or "gender checks" in sports competitions in 2012. By crossing the history of science and physical and sports activities through the prism of gender, her work shows how muscles have fabricated "sex" and thereby a certain contemporary definition of sexual difference.
