Biography

Since August 2017, Gwenola Ricordeau has been an assistant professor at California State University, Chico. Between 2009 and 2017, she was lecturer in sociology at the University of Lille 1. Her work focuses on the prison system (particularly from the angle of sexuality and gender) and on social relations of sex - but also politics and women in the Philippines. She is notably the author of The prisoners and their relatives (2008), For them all. Women Against Prison (2019) and Crimes and Punishments. Thinking about penal abolitionism (2021).
