Élise Luneau is an archaeologist specializing in protohistoric societies in Central Asia and Iran (Oxus Civilization, Andronovo Cultures). She is a researcher at the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut (Eurasien-Abteilung) and an associate researcher at the CNRS-UMR 8215. Her work focuses on the evolution of urban societies, the interactions between nomads and sedentary people, ceramic productions and social structures, in particular gender systems and the place of women in ancient Central Eurasian cultures.
